All three of Stan’s summer signings to date were at Gawthorpe namely Mo Camara, Brian Jensen and Lee Roche and they were joined by a couple of trialists we told you about some time ago.

One was Richard Edghill, news we revealed over a week ago, his presence was confirmed by the club last week whilst Amjad Iqbal, a midfielder from Farsley Celtic, was also involved as he looks to win himself a contract.

It is just about a month since we told you about Iqbal – click HERE to see that – but it was this afternoon before the club themselves confirmed that he was involved.

Our two new young professionals, Matt O’Neill and Joel Pilkington were there too and were joined by scholar Richard Chaplow who made his first team debut at the end of last season and Damien Hindle.

Damo has completed his three year scholarship, is still at the club but as yet has not signed a professional deal. We believe that will happen just as soon as his recovery from the facial injury sustained in the last home reserve game has been confirmed.

The players, and according to Stan there should soon be five more of them, have two weeks training before going off to the Isle of Man where they kick off against Blackpool whilst they have five weeks before the season really gets underway with a Turf Moor encounter with Crystal Palace.

There was speculation that there would be another new signing or two this morning as the players reported but that was not the case but it shouldn’t be too long before there is news of further new players.
