Baby delays Duff return

Michael Duff - misses the Ireland trip
Duff, out since the home game against Crystal Palace, would otherwise have been in Owen Coyle's squad but he misses out along with two other players, Stanislav Varga and one of our Irish midfielders Alan Mahon.

Varga won't be making the trip because of family reasons whilst Mahon is still on his way back from the hamstring injury that has dogged him for some weeks now. However there is good news with the return to fitness of both Clarke Carlisle and Chris McCann and both are expected to play their part.

Owen Coyle said ahead of the trip: "The game is great in terms of fitness for Clarke, Chris and Gabor in goal. Michael would have played but his wife is in the process of having their first baby and understandably he wants to be at her side."

The Burnley squad is: Gabor Kiraly, Graham Alexander, Jon Harley, Clarke Carlisle, Steven Caldwell, James O'Connor, Joey Gudjonsson, Ade Akinbiyi, Mark Randall, Wade Elliott, Brian Jensen, John Spicer, Chris McCann, Kyle Lafferty, Robbie Blake, Garreth O'Connor, Stephen Jordan, David Unsworth, Andrew Cole.

It would have been a great boost to see Duff back in action but he does have the best of reasons for not making the trip and Clarets Mad would like to send best wishes to both of them ahead of them becoming parents.
