Away tie for Clarets in cup with new name

The Football League signed a new three-year deal with Coors Brewers Ltd. yesterday for the competition and although it is the same company as the previous sponsor they have chosen to change the name from the Worthington to the Carling Cup.

Today the draw was made for the First Round and this will return to its traditional first midweek of the season slot after moving into September last year.

Burnley have been drawn away to Second Division Chesterfield and this will be the first time the two clubs have met in the competition although we have met in other club competitions including the FA Cup.

The last FA Cup meeting was twenty years ago in the 2nd Round of the Bond season when we beat them 3-2 at the Turf following a 2-2 draw away. Perhaps the best known though was the 3rd Round tie of 1956/57 which we won 7-0 with Ian Lawson scoring four goals on his debut.
