Away again in the FA Cup

Tony Adams - now Wycombe boss but last played in the FA Cup in the 2001 final
We didn’t have to wait long to find out either, ours was the third tie to be drawn out, and this time we will travel to Wycombe Wanderers or Mansfield Town after the two sides drew 1-1 on Friday in a match televised by Sky.

Wycombe went in front shortly after half time through Gavin Holligan but Iyseden Christie equalised for Mansfield shortly afterwards. It was a cracking game with both sides attacking throughout and Mansfield in particular are a side who like to get the ball down and play a bit.

The replay will be next week at Field Mill so it will be another nine days before we know exactly where we will be going.

If it is Wycombe it will be new ground having never played them in a cup competition but there has been one previous FA Cup tie against Mansfield played on 12th January 1935 at the Turf. On that occasion Burnley won 4-2 with goals from Edward Hancock(2), George Brown and Cecil Smith.

There have been League Cup ties against them though in the 1st rounds of 1995/96 and 1996/97 season, both of which were won.
