Arthur's back in Town

‘King’ Arthur has been without a club since he was dismissed by QPR in March of this year and had no chance of finding a club at the time as he battled back from a serious knee injury.

In early October he had a trial with League One club Barnsley but manager Andy Ritchie decided against signing him, claiming that the defender was still some weeks away from the sort of fitness required to play at league level.

There were suggestions that he had returned to France but that has not been the case and he’s actually been back in the north west with the club currently bottom of the Football League, Stockport County. He’s been training with the Trust run club but has now taken this opportunity to join Ipswich in the hope of winning a deal with them come January.

Confirming his arrival at Portman Road, Long Ball Joe said, “Arthur will be with us for a while. He can play centre-half or left-back and played with distinction for Burnley and QPR. He’s been out for a while with a knee injury but is fit now and will be with us for at least the rest of this week.”

Arthur, who finally left the Clarets in February 2004, hasn’t played since he was injured playing for QPR in a League Cup tie at Aston Villa in September of last year. Who knows, he could just turn up playing against us when we visit Ipswich in February.
