Arthur is your Player of the Season

Arthur at the awards evening
You have decided the award by voting in the Man of the Match awards after every home game and the votes show us that we have been far from a one man team with 12 different winners out of the 24 home League and FA Cup games.

Web polls without e-mail address verification can be unreliable but the polls have been monitored and we are satisfied that the results have not been adversely interfered with.

In fact the vast majority of the polls have had a very clear winner and the total number of votes cast always seemed to have a correlation with the size of the crowd and whether the game was televised or not.

The totals of the number of individual awards won were as follows:
5 Arthur Gnohere
3 Ian Moore
3 David Johnson
2 Alan Moore
2 Glen Little
2 Steve Davis
2 Tony Grant
1 Dean West
1 Kevin Ball
1 Andy Payton
1 Nik Michopoulos
1 Paul Gascoigne

Dean West picked up the lions share of the awards from the supporters clubs but interestingly the London Clarets, who I believe were they only group to record votes from individual games throughout the season rather than a big vote at the end, also chose Arthur as their Player of the Season.

The biggest omission from the list is of course Gareth Taylor who was the Clarets top scorer with 16 goals and I find it difficult to believe that he didn't win at least 1 award. It is also strange that 2 defenders have picked up the various awards when our major problem has been conceding too many goals rather than not scoring them. If there is a reason for this then I'm really struggling to work it out.

It is also worth mentioning that David Johnson picked up 3 awards out of only 5 home games when we are looking for a player to sign a deal during the summer.

In the end though Arthur was a clear winner and I will be writing more about his first season at Burnley at a later date but for now it's a case of:

Well Done Arthur.
