Stephen Ward, player ratings winner

Looking at the man of the match vote, it was a second successive home game where Scott Arfield has come out on top. He was voted our best player in the opening game against Chelsea and here he secured 20.4% of the vote, just ahead of Kieran Trippier who had a 20.4% share.

Stephen Ward, at the time of the game our most recent signing, took third place with 17.7% of the vote with 9.5% winning fourth place for midfielder David Jones.

Three of those four players were in the top four in the player ratings but only three players won ratings of six or more with Ward winning it on his Burnley debut with a rating of 6.23 out of 10.

Jones was second with 6.08 and a rating of exactly six ensured third place for Arfield. Goalkeeper Matt Gilks, another making his debut, came fourth with a rating of 5.92 out of 10.

That result earned both Arfield and Ward seven points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year. Jones collected four points and there were three points for Trippier and one for Gilks.

Arfield's points took him back above Lukas Jutkiewicz into first place, five points ahead of the striker and a further two points ahead of Michael Duff who sat out this game.

Tomorrow we will have the result for the Manchester United game played last Saturday.
