Another Turf Moor debutant

Manchester referee Eddie Evans is in his second season on the Football League list and after being allocated just one First Division game last season this will be his fifth in 2003/04.

In 56 games to date he has only kept his cards in his pocket twice and both have been in our division. Last season he didn’t book a player when Leicester beat Franchise 4-0 and it was the same when West Ham hit Franchise for five last month.

He is about average when it comes to yellow cards at around three per game with 95 from 29 games this season. On top of that his red card has appeared eleven times with all but two of those coming in his first eleven matches of the season.

Again he is a referee who hands out more cards to the away team players. Of those yellow cards 39 have gone to home team players with 56 to away team players whilst it is 4 home and 11 away with the red cards.

Tomorrow he will be assisted by John Stokes (Merseyside) and Mark Tilling (Cleveland).
