Another Premiership player linked with Turf Moor move

The player in question is Blackburn Rovers’ midfielder Alan Mahon who is apparently wanted on loan by Stan. The 24 year-old was used as a sub last Saturday in their game at Sunderland but this was his first Premiership appearance since September and only his second all season.

He was first see some eight years ago at Turf Moor when he was the outstanding player on the pitch in a Youth Cup game playing for his first club Tranmere. He looked to have a bright future ahead of him and soon broke into the Tranmere first team.

But in the summer of 2000 he walked out at the end of his contract and moved to Portugal and Sporting Lisbon. He didn’t settle and was only there six months when he returned to play for Blackburn initially on loan, making his debut for them as a sub on the Turf.

He was signed permanently in the summer but has never been able to establish himself as a first team player at Ewood Park and it looks as though this could have alerted Stan.

There may be some who have reservations about such a move but should he pull on a Claret & Blue shirt for us then I for one will be delighted to see him. He won’t be the first player to have played for both clubs and he won’t be the last.

There has been no comment though from either club at this time.
