Another less than busy week

The week's only incoming First Division transfer - Paddy Kenny to Sheffield United
Once again no money has been spent and the only money coming in was at Selhurst Park where Franchise FC sold Kenny Cunningham to Premiership new boys Birmingham. How pleased Cunningham will be to get out of the mess there and other players are expected to follow as the club hopefully lunges towards total collapse.

Ipswich Town’s full back Gary Croft had a loan spell with Cardiff at the end of last season and he has now made the deal permanent but has left on a free transfer. It is a long drive from Ipswich to Cardiff and it is to be hoped that Croft carried his own legitimate driving documents with him on the journey.

Only one other club has seen any activity in the transfer market and that is Sheffield United, the only club to bring in a new player this week. He is Bury goalkeeper Tyrone Dobbs (aka Paddy Kenny). He was a Neil Warnock signing for Bury and it is Warnock who has signed him again, this time on a three month deal.

Kenny arrived as full back Shane Nicholson left, he has joined Tranmere on a free transfer. It is four years since West Brom sacked him after testing positive for drugs and he has certainly done some moving around since. Tranmere will be his fourth club since his days at The Hawthorns.

Many First Division clubs are looking at players and some, like the Clarets, have players training with them. The week after next sees the court case as the totally incompetent Football League take on the morally appalling media companies Carlton and Granada. Should the Football League somehow come out with a victory then it would open up the transfer market somewhat although not to the extent it was last season. Even Wolves can’t spend money now.
