It took him only seconds to give the Greek Under 21s the lead against the Ukraine in Kiev with a chipped effort when put through on the right hand side. The point sees them top of the league with four points from two games having already beat Spain with another Papadopoulos goal.

With his Burnley goals that makes it six for the season and he will be back in action as captain of the Greeks tomorrow night when they return home to Athens to take on Armenia.

The game will go ahead at the famous ‘Nikos Goumas Stadium’, home of AEK Athens. It carries the name of a former AEK President who made a major financial contribution to the modernising of the old ‘AEK Stadium’.

It was the biggest and the main stadium in Greece until the Olympic Stadium (which will house the 2004 Olympic Games) was built in the 1980s.

Dimitri will be back for the game at Leicester on Saturday but will shortly be off collecting air miles again for the next round of matches.
