Ade Akinbiyi - scored on our last FA Cup visit to Reading
Whilst we were heading back to Burnley yesterday after our win against the MK Franchise we were tuned in to the Reading v Liverpool game at the Madejski. Simon Church gave Reading the lead before Steven Gerrard equalised and the 1-1 draw means a replay at Anfield a week on Wednesday.

Neither will be new opponents in the FA Cup. We've twice previously played Reading and both times been drawn away. In the 1964/65 season we beat them 1-0 at home after a 1-1 draw at Elm Park and four seasons ago were beaten 3-2 at the Madejski Stadium. Ade Akinbiyi scored on his second Burnley debut with Garreth O'Connor scoring the second and his last for the club.

Should it be Liverpool it will be our eleventh meeting with them in the FA Cup. The first two were the 1-0 wins in the 1914 final and 1944 semi-final and the most recent we won by the same scoreline in the third round in 2004/05. Liverpool have the edge though with six wins to our four.

The game will be played on either Saturday 23rd or Sunday 24th January.
