Anne joins 500 Mile Campaign

Chris Gibson - preparing for the trip
The whole event has been organised by Burnley’s Pie-Man Chris Gibson the club’s Catering Manager and Anne Clark is the latest to join the team, the only woman in the 13 strong group.

She also brings a Clarets Mad flavour to the event. Anne’s husband David is our regular match reporter and throughout the season brings you the ‘Star Geezers’ and the ‘Star Gazers’.

All members of the team have to raise a minimum of £1,000 to be eligible and having only just signed up Anne is some way behind the rest of them with the fund raising. I’m sure we can help by offering some sponsorship towards that £1,000.

If you would like to contribute you can EMAIL your commitment or send your donation to Anne at 1, Forester Drive, Fence, Burnley, BB12 9PG.

The event is taking place in the last week of the season and the starting point will be down in cider country with the South West Clarets. From there it is off, via Exeter and Salisbury, to London where they will meet up with our oldest Supporters Group the London Clarets.

From London it is off up to Coventry and the West Midlands Clarets although worryingly this is via Milton Keynes where presumably they are checking out life in Franchise Land.

Then it is Stafford, Manchester with the North Manchester Clarets before returning home in time for the last match of the season against Sunderland.

If you can help Anne then please do and our best wishes to all those taking part and also to those who are giving up their time to help. One is Ian ‘Juke-Box Duerden’ who will drive the support car. He was so keen to take part that as well as this he has already raised his money and completed his 500 miles at the Turf Moor Leisure Centre – Clarets Mad were there last Thursday to see him complete the last mile.
