Andy Cooke says farewell to Stoke

Cookey, a popular player throughout his time at Burnley, has decided to take up an offer to play up front alongside former Reading forward Jamie Cureton at Busan Icons in South Korea.

He will be joining a club who are managed by the former Trinidad & Tobago Tin Pot Outfit coach Ian Porterfield, someone who is probably not on Stan’s Christmas card list.

Andy today described it as a fantastic opportunity and one that he is looking forward and a move that he has left his number one club for.

He said of the move, "It's a fantastic opportunity and one which probably wouldn' t come around again. I love Stoke City to bits, always have, but I feel the time is right for a change and a challenge like this.

"I first heard of their interest just over a week ago and it's all been pretty hectic since. Their season finishes in December and we've just got to decide if I sign an 18-month or two-and-a-half year contract.

"I was hoping to go out there and take a look before making a decision, but unfortunately my grandfather passed away and so I've had to look on the internet and speak to Jamie to find out about things out there."

Stoke boss Tony Pulis didn’t stand in his way despite the fact that they paid £300,000 for him less than three years ago. Pulis said, "I' m disappointed to lose such a fantastic worker who gave everything every time he played. But this is an opportunity of a lifetime and he goes with our best wishes."

I’m sure Andy Cooke will go with the best wishes of all Clarets supporters too.
