Anderson would like return

Russell Anderson
He's on his way back to full fitness after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in our Carling Cup win against Fulham last September. Prior to that game he'd played just four league games for the Clarets, two of which were won and two drawn, after signing on a season long loan.

Since returning to training he's been seen out on the pitch warming up ahead of games and manager Owen Coyle has never hidden the fact that he'd like to sign the Scottish international defender.

At the time there was a price tag on his head of around £1 million but it is thought that Sunderland would now accept less than that for him as they look to make big changes to their squad after just surviving the drop.

Anderson too would like to return and he's said: "The lads have been great, it's an easy changing room to integrate into, the manager obviously wants those sorts of characters. I've really enjoyed my time here, I would like to come back, but it's up to the people who make the decisions. Fingers crossed."

This follows the news today that Rhys Williams is also on the wanted list, another player who would jump at the chance of a Turf Moor return.
