Anderson is potential target

Anderson, now 29 and a full Scottish internatiional, had spent his entire career with Aberdeen before moving to the Stadium of Light in the summer of 2007, but an early knee injury kept him out for months after he'd stated a Carling Cup tie and played in just one game as a substitute for his new club.

Once fit he was allowed to go out on loan to Plymouth in February of this year and he played fourteen games for them, his home debut coming in their 3-1 win over the Clarets. He collected no fewer than six yellow cards in those games.

Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock is keen to take him back to Home Park but wants him on a season long loan due to being unable to raise the money Roy Keane would want for him. The player, settled in the north east, would prefer to keep his family home there and that could see us favourites to land him with League One Leeds also interested.

Meanwhile, the speculation linking us with Derby defender Dean Leacock has been dismissed by Owen Coyle this morning.
