Anderson injury rules him out for season

Russell Anderson
Scans carried have revealed the extent of the damage and it is very unlikely that he'll be anywhere near ready to play again before his loan comes to an end at the end of this season.

Anderson signed a season long loan from RK Sunderland in time to make his debut in the home 0-0 draw against Plymouth, for whom he had played in an emergency loan deal last season.

He had a good debut and also turned in good performances in subsequent league games at Nottingham Forest at home to Blackpool and at Swansea.

But his Carling Cup debut for the Clarets lasted only twelve minutes when he went down virtually on the half way line right in front of the Longside. He was stretchered from the field and we were told to fear the worst.

That fear has been confirmed and he becomes the fifth Burnley player to suffer such an injury in just over three years following Wayne Thomas, Danny Coyne, Bes Berisha and Michael Duff.

It will probably signal his return to the Stadium of Light and I'm sure every Burnley fan will wish him well in his recovery.
