And then there were twelve

Matt O'Neill - one of three youngsters to sign a one year deal
For O’Neill and Pilkington it is a second one year contract following on from last season that for both players was a disappointment.

Joel started the season injured, missed part of it with illness but did eventually make his first team debut when he came on as a substitute for former school mate Richard Chaplow in the vital 2-0 win against Franchise.

Matt also missed part of the season with injury and it was a season where he would have hoped to have won himself more starts in the first team having got his first start in a 2-0 win against Gillingham in 2002/03 when both goals came directly from his long throw ins.

It didn’t happen and he made just four more substitute appearances with two of those coming in the last two games of the season.

Paul Scott has just ended his scholarship with the club and he too missed part of last season with a broken foot, sustained in a youth game at Gawthorpe.

Scotty made two substitute appearances for the first team, coming on for Alan Moore at Coventry for his debut. He followed his brother Chris, dad Derek, uncle David (Miller) and granddad Brian (Miller) into the first team.

All three will be hoping to progress next season and ensure they are involved with the first team squad.
