This doesn't mean that the position will remain empty and Stan's place in the dug out is available to a Burnley supporter via an auction being run by the club's own official web site.

I'm not sure there is a Burnley fan around that doesn't sometimes think he can do better than Stan, and I'm not sure there is one around who hasn't disagreed with Stan at times and particularly when he is making his substitutions.

This is your chance then to bid for Stan's place whilst the man himself has to watch the match from the Directors' Box.

You will be able to witness those substitutions at first hand, know why they are being made and be part of the team. If you like the idea then just read on and follow the link to make your bid.

Bid for Stan's place on the bench

Burnley boss Stan Ternent faces the first game of a two-match touchline ban for Saturday’s game with Walsall at Turf Moor.

The Gaffer will now be forced to sit in the stand during the game, leaving his place on the bench free and he wants one lucky fan to take up his space on the touchline.

Now, we are offering you the chance to sit on the Burnley bench for this game, giving a unique insight into what goes on at touchline level, a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The place on the bench is being auctioned off by Burnley Football Club on QXL, the club’s official auction site and the bidding is for one day only, so get your offers in now!

The package will also include lunch and a pre-match drink with Chairman Barry Kilby and the directors, before you will be escorted to the bench as the players come out for the action.

You will then spend the full 90 minutes in the dugout area as Burnley look to continue their nine match unbeaten run before retiring to the Boardroom after the game for more refreshments.

The bidding closes at 7.00pm on Friday evening (11th October 2002), so get you bids in right now for what is sure to be an unbelievable experience.

Now you can make all your dreams come true!

For more information on the auction, follow the on screen instructions on the club’s Official Website

Entrants must be over 21-years-old and must not have any football related criminal conviction and a collar and tie needs to be worn.

The auction winner will be admitted subject to the rules and regulations as stipulated by Burnley Football Club.
