Alexander is currently in talks with Burnley after the fee had been agreed and it is expected he will be confirmed as a Burnley player later today, or tomorrow at the latest. Now 35 he's played all of Preston's league games this season and Burnley will be getting last season's PFA right back of the season from the Championship.

Should he sign it will end a long search for a right back that has seen us linked with various players, including Middlesbrough pair Stuart Parnaby and Andrew Davies, with Parnaby opting for Birmingham. And only this week Steve Cotterill confirmed that a right back, believed to be Manchester United's Phil Bardsley, had turned down a move to Turf Moor.

Now the Clarets will have competition for the right back position where Michael Duff is currently playing.
