Martin Paterson - first start for Northern Ireland
Graham Alexander was recalled to the Scotland squad over the weekend and manager George Burley named him to start at right back and in doing so he won his 34th cap for his county. He went on to play the full ninety minutes.

With Kyle Lafferty having pulled out of the Northern Ireland squad it was widely reported that Warren Feeney would partner David Healy up front in Nigel Worthington's team, but when that team was announced it was Martin Paterson alongside the Fulham striker.

This gave Pato his third cap, and significantly his first start at full international level. In a gme that ended 0-0 he played the first half but was replaced at half time by Hibs striker Dean Shiels who was making his international debut.

Michael Duff got on for the last fifteen minutes, coming on for Ipswich's Gareth McAuley. It was Duff's 21st cap and his first since September of last year prior to his injury problems.
