Afolabi linked with Clarets

Afolabi, who was in the Nigerian World Cup squad in 2009, has previously played for clubs such as Standard Liege and Austria Vienna. He also spent a year with Serie A club Napoli but failed to break into the first team.

He's just left French club Sochaux and it is reported that Owen Coyle would like to bring him in for pre-season training. The Clarets' boss has already said that all areas of the side need to be strengthened ahead of the new season.

Having opted to leave his current club Afolabi has confirmed that he would like to play in England. A deal to Aston Villa failed to materialise in January when Sochaux demanded a fee of £1 million for him, but they are still believed to be keen on him along with their West Midlands rivals in the Premier League.
