Ade not for sale

Warnock missed out on signing him earlier in the year when Ade chose to join Burnley but there have been suggestions that Warnock, who collects strikers in the same way as an anorak collects train numbers, was all set to give Burnley a healthy profit by offering a seven figure sum.

He’s recently tried to get Richard Cresswell from Preston and Portsmouth’s Svetoslav Todorov with little success and after losing Andy Gray to Sunderland, reducing his umpteen forward options by one, he’s keen to go into the market again.

At the time Ade signed for the Clarets, Warnock questioned why he had chosen us above the Blades but did admit that he had been his main target and a lot of time had been wasted.

He’s going to get no joy if he does contact us though, and that is something he hasn’t done yet as Burnley have today confirmed there has been no contact between the two clubs.

Steve Cotterill, who paid out £600,000 to bring him to Turf Moor, said today, “I think Ade is quite probably getting towards the form we know he is capable of. What you see is what you get with him and a few people probably turned their noses up at the fee when we signed him.

“What you see is what you get and a few people probably turned their noses up at the fee when we signed him but we could sell him for more than that tomorrow. Not that we will, but it shows it hasn’t been a bad bit of business.”

Meanwhile speculation grows that midfielder Steve Lomas could soon be a Claret, with some sources suggesting it could happen ahead of Saturday’s game at Watford. According to agent Eric Hall the two clubs are in talks with a view to the player joining Burnley on loan. There has been no news from either club.
