Ade completes double

We've got to go back to early November for the goal, to our last away win of the season, and that fantastic afternoon at Luton when we triumphed against all the odds to win the game 3-2.

We were 2-0 up when the drama unfolded, with goalkeeper Brian Jensen sent off to be replaced in goal by midfielder John Spicer, and both those goals had been scored by Ade. The first of them was an excellent goal, slotting the ball home past Marlon Beresford after being put clear by Spicer.

But when Spicer repeated it and put Ade clear again he this time hit an absolute stunner that Beresford hardly had time to see, let along get to. His half volley simply flew into the roof of the net.

It was always going to be a goal of the season contender, and it was obvious that it would take something incredible to beat it. It really is no surprise that the goal has polled over half of the vote from a choice of thirteen goals.

And although now a Sheffield United player, it means Ade Akinbiyi has followed in the footsteps of Arthur Gnohere (2001/02) and Robbie Blake (2003/04) in collecting both awards.
