A Tanner at Molineux

Last updated : 07 December 2007 By Tony Scholes
Move on just over two years, the cameras are there again and so is Tanner who is now one of our select referees and took charge of his first Premiership match on the Saturday before Christmas last year.

Tanner has always been considered something of a homer and that wouldn't be good news for us. In previous seasons his card count has always favoured the home sides quite dramatically.

However, this season there does seem to have been something of a change. He's refereed sixteen games so far and in those games there have been 48 yellow cards. Prior to this season we could have expected at least 30, probably closer to 35, of those cards going the way of away players. But refreshingly there have been 21 to home team players and 27 to away team players.

Apart from Wolves he's also refereed another of our televised games, and that one also ended in a win, the 3-2 victory over Preston last season. Maybe he's all set to complete his hat trick.

He will be assisted by Michael Murphy (West Midlands) and Richard West (East Yorkshire) whilst the fourth official will be Flood Warden Andy Hall (West Midlands), a referee who has caused us more than the odd problem over the years.
