A tale of two strikers

As speculation continues as to who might be coming in, and potentially who might be leaving, the latest name this week was that of Ings, almost immediately after Eddie Howe said he wanted to bring in a new striker after Chris Iwelumo had been sold to Watford.

Ings, aged 19, made his Bournemouth debut in the Johnstone Paints Trophy against Northampton in October 2009, coming on as a substitute for Jason Tindall. His league debut didn't come until December 2010 and his first goal came after Howe had left to become Clarets' boss.

They've reportedly turned down offers from Crystal Palace and Fulham of £200,000 and £400,000 respectively with chairman Eddie Mitchell saying: "He is going to be Bournemouth's first £1 million player and that is definite."

Meanwhile, Burnley have a new striker for the forthcoming season in Paterson, or it feels like that after he's missed so much of the last two seasons.

He's fit again and is now ready to win a place in the team and start playing regularly, something he hasn't done since the promotion season. He's been the subject of interest from Portsmouth but Burnley have made it very clear that he's not going anywhere.

"It's just nice to be fit again because I feel like I'm making up for lost time," Paterson said. "Obviously with last season a write-off and missing four months in the previous season, I want to get as much football in as I can.

"The rehab has been tough; not so much physical as mental. I have suffered a kind of footballing depression, not being able to play, but I feel stronger than ever and my hope now is just to stay fit."
