Surely the football authorities should be brought in here, surely Wigan are in breach of rules with their constant bidding for a player they have been told is not for sale.

Burnley have already said that this is unnecessarily unsettling Robbie and quite simply it has to stop. According to Jewell the two chairmen were going to speak, had that happened Whelan would have been told once and for all that the player is not available.

But instead they send in another insulting offer and it is just not good enough. They must suddenly think they are a big club and can do what they want. In truth they are a small club, a very small club in fact, that just happens to have some money.

Only recently Blake himself said that his Premiership experience went sour because of a fall out with Jewell, he’s hardly likely to want to go and play for him again in any case.

Probably they will be conjuring up another move at the Concrete Jungle – they should be told in no uncertain terms that they cannot do this.
