Youth development will have smartboard

Last updated : 12 June 2006 By Tony Scholes

The initial costing was around £3,500 but because of the fantastic response to the fundraising we've been able to go one better, and last week handed over a cheque for £6,000 to the club to enable them to go ahead and order a system to be in place for the start of pre-season training.

It will include a fixed smartboard system at the training ground at Gawthorpe, some portable equipment to allow them to carry out coaching sessions at Turf Moor and a good quality video camera for filming the youth games for use with the system.

Once installed we will have much more information for you on the new system and Clarets Mad will be popping down to Gawthorpe early next season to see the system in full use. There will also be a formal presentation at the beginning of the new season.

Discussions have already started with the club to determine further projects with the next one likely to be some much needed exercise equipment.

The last few months have seen supporters pulling together to achieve this, there's been no let up and at this time we have now gone well past the £7,000 figure following some recent successful auctions. You can keep a check on how much has been raised form the front page of the site, where the money already given to the club is now shown in gold.

Right now you can play your part by entering our World Cup Predictor League. For no more than £5.40 you can join the league, which asks you to predict the results of games in the World Cup. Half of the money received will go to the Clarets Mad Year of the Youth Fund whilst the other half will be paid back in prize money.

The more who enter, the bigger the prize, click HERE for more information.
