The evening gets underway at 8:00 p.m. and the formal launch of the campaign will be held at 8:30. The club will be represented, and there will also be personalities from youth teams of the past.
The club’s Head of Youth Development Vince Overson and Centre of Excellence Coach Paul Weller have confirmed their attendance. Vince and Paul themselves both came through our youth system and went on to play over 470 league games between them for the Clarets.
The campaign has already got off to an incredible start with over £1,100 raised via donations, and this even before the launch. Having initially started as an idea to try and raise £200 to sponsor a youth player next season it has, within just a couple of weeks, already become a resounding success.
Discussions are being held with the youth development team at Turf Moor as to how the money could be used and we’ll bring you news of that just as soon as it has been agreed.
During the evening we will also be finalising our fundraising of two years ago, when Clarets Mad successfully raised £3,000 for the club’s 500 Mile appeal.
One of the special 500 Mile shirts will be handed over to Simon & Emma at the Bridge and will be displayed there for all to see, and another of the shirts will find its way to one of those who contributed at the time, with all the names being included in a draw.
