Kilby and Flood set for Clarets Mad Evening

Last updated : 02 June 2007 By Tony Scholes
It's all been somewhat fortunate for us, the first approach to the chairman was made a few days before the announcement that he and Brendan Flood would be running things. He said yes, just as Brendan Flood did a day later and it really is just a matter of finding the right date now.

Both of them have been very much in the news since. Brendan Flood has done extensive interviews with both local papers, outlining his plans for the team, for the ground and for the future of Burnley Football Club and Kilby, speaking to a fans' group spoke about those Turf Moor plans.

We know about the Jimmy McIlroy void set to be operational by the end of the year, but he spoke about the potential for a hotel, and retail outlets at the cricket field end with potential for bringing in the car park area.

There's no confirmation of any of this but if work does start at the cricket field end of the ground then expect the dressing room area to be shifted between the current Longside and Jimmy Mac Stands, something that will definitely please the manager and the players.

Regarding the manager, both of them have spoken about strengthening Steve Cotterill's hand this coming season. We've already made one new signing in goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly with more to come. It won't make us one of the biggest clubs in the league by any stretch of the imagination but will at least see us competing fairly against a good number of clubs as we look to move up the table.

Interestingly we are already being linked with players that we couldn't have expected to be linked with, but that's good news with Flood stressing that Burnley needs to be known now as a club with more ambition.

Keep checking Clarets Mad and as soon as we have news of the evening you will read it here. And we are also currently working on possibly another couple of guests so watch this space.
