Following a proposal by the Supporters' Liaison Group, an agreement was reached with the club to hold this in January each year and over recent weeks there has been an invitation from the club to submit names of those who did pass away last year.
Those names are listed in today's match programme and will also be displayed on the big screen at Turf Moor during the minute's silence which will be observed ahead of kick off.
Over 80 names will be displayed, of supporters and former managers, players or staff who died in 2012.
I've taken a look down the list of names and a number of those shown were familiar to Clarets Mad with threads having appeared on the message board at the times of their deaths.
As we move ahead into 2013, it is a nice opportunity for us to take a look back at those we've lost in the last twelve months, those who have, over the years, shared Burnley Football Club with us, those who the club have, quite rightly, referred to as being members of the Clarets' family.
