Old Trafford next in cup as Leyton Orient go out

Old Trafford for the sixth round

A Niklas Bendtner hat trick and further goals from Marouane Chamakh and Gael Clichy gave Arsenal an easy 5-0 win in the replay that came about after Jonathan Tehoue gave them a late equaliser in the first game at Brisbane Road.

Orient's consolation was that they were the last League One club in the competition and had Everton beaten Reading on the previous night they would have been the last Football League club to go out of the competition.

Almost half a million pounds from television appearances, both games were shown live, will certainly have helped them, particularly with their fight against West Ham's move to the Olympic Stadium.

But with Leyton Orient out the Clarets Mad curse passes to a Premier League club for the first time, and to Arsenal, who now face the daunting prospect of a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in the sixth round.

Far be it for me to suggest they might go out but now carrying the Clarets Mad Road to Wembley flag will, without doubt, make Arsenal second favourites in this tie.
