How will we remember Micah Hyde? He was a Burnley player for two and a half seasons, played in 114 games, yet I'm sure if you asked our supporters for one memory of him then they would all probably refer to the night at Ewood Park when his goal gave us real belief, and real hope that we might finally beat our local rivals.

Nothing before or since came close to matching that moment, when he became the first Claret to score at that ground for almost 22 years, and no matter how else he's remembered his goal that night will continue to be watched again and again by our fans.

Micah joined the Clarets in the summer of 2004, becoming the fourth of Steve Cotterill's five pre-season signings. He'd left Watford, although he had been offered a new deal, and was training with Sheffield United when we moved in.

Having started his career with Cambridge United, he moved to Watford in the summer of 1997 and spent seven years with them. His debut for Watford came on the opening day of the 1997/98 season when he lined up alongside Gifton Noel-Williams as they beat Chris Waddle's Burnley at Vicarage Road.

He was a regular in the Watford side for those seven seasons, making over 250 league appearances, and significantly scoring no fewer than 24 league goals. He was a virtual ever present in their Premiership season of 1999/2000, missing only four games.

When we were promoted in 2000, the early games against Watford went out way and he didn't stand out, but alongside Gavin Mahon he certainly did on the day they came to Burnley and beat us 7-4. The pair of them were outstanding against a Clarets' side who had by then perfected the art of giving goals away and Micah scored their second goal to take the score to 2-1.

That was in my mind when we signed him, and I had him down as a midfielder who scored a few goals. He didn't disappoint either, he scored on his Burnley debut and gave us the lead against Sheffield United although the game ended 1-1. That's always a good start, one goal in one game for a midfielder, but by the time he left it was one goal in 102 league games, he never did score again in a league game for the Clarets.

Watford fans said he didn't play so well when the weather was cold, but he certainly disproved that theory in his first season and without doubt showed his best form during the colder months of the season.

Micah was probably never going to be the most popular player with the Turf Moor crowd, it was always said that he gave the ball away too cheaply through being too casual, and there are a number of occasions when that cost us goals, particularly right at the start of games or at the start of the second half.

But there's no doubt he turned in a string of top performances in his first season and a half with the club, but he did start to struggle during the latter months of the 2005/06 season and eventually lost his place in the side. That led to him being transfer listed at the end of the season.

He was still with us at the start of the following season and quickly won his place back in the side, and his form showed him come off the list. He proved to be very influential during the good run of results that saw us up in third place, but lost his place initially through a suspension after he was sent off in the win against Ipswich at the beginning of November.

From then he never regained his place on a regular basis, but when he did play was disappointing. He was coming towards the end of his contract so when Peterborough made an offer for him in January 2007, and with Eric Djemba-Djemba about to come in on loan, the club accepted the offer and he made the move to London Road.

A player who divided opinion throughout his time at Turf Moor, but I always thought we looked a better and better balanced side when Micah played then when he was missing. But no matter which side of the fence you were on, there was always that goal at Ewood Park. Thanks for that Micah.

Micah remained with Peterborough until December 2008. His opportunities in the first team were becoming limited and his contract was cancelled freeing him to find a new club. After a trial with Gillingham he finally signed for Blue Square Premier side Woking on 27th February 2009 until the end of the 2008/09 season.

Having completed the season at Woking, he moved back into the Football League with Barnet. He signed a one year deal with the League Two club on 9th July 2009.

He played for Barnet throughout the 2009/10 season before leaving the club in May 2010 after they'd just escaped the drop out of the Football League on the last day of the season.

He started pre-season training with Blue Square Bet South club Braintree Town at the begining of July 2010, but then signed a one year deal with Rymans League club Billericay Town.
