The manager won't be here

It's a strange scenario but Holloway was given permission to speak to Leicester about the vacancy there and when he took up the option to speak to them he was immediately removed as manager by chairman Gianni Paladini.

No doubt he was looking for a way to get Holloway out and this was his chance, although to date he has not been sacked, his contract has not been terminated, but he remains on gardening leave whilst Gary Waddock continues to take charge of team affairs on a caretaker basis.

Paladini told ITV's The Championship that the job was Waddock's but there appears to be some doubt on that now and he seems to be back tracking somewhat on whether he will get the job on a permanent basis.

He's still in charge for now, as he has been for just over two months and he's made little change to the squad in terms of personnel although has made dramatic changes to the way they play. The only signing has been veteran goalkeeper Paul Jones, he will be 39 later this month, and he's replaced Simon Royce in the team.

Results have been mixed and, very much like us, they have been struggling to score goals. The only time they've scored more than once in a game since Waddock took the reigns was in February at Sheffield United when they beat the Blades 3-2 on the day when Ade Akinbiyi scored his only home goal.

They go into tomorrow's game with four draws, followed by two defeats, since that win and just four goals scored.

Team News

Waddock insisted there would be changes following two home defeats last week at the hands of Stoke and Crewe but the side isn't expected to be much different although Kevin Gallen is a certainty to return following suspension.

They are without some players through injury. Matthew Rose looks to have been ruled out along with former Burnley target Martin Rowlands, Tommy Doherty and Dominic Shimmin whilst Sammy Youssouf is rated doubtful.

QPR will select from: Paul Jones, Marcus Bignot, Ian Evatt, Danny Shittu, Mauro Milanese, Gareth Ainsworth, Marc Bircham, Steve Lomas, Lee Cook, Kevin Gallen, Marc Nygaard, Stefan Moore, Paul Furlong, Richard Langley, Georges Santos, Jake Cole, Stefan Bailey, Scott Donnelly.

John McGreal and Micah Hyde were both on the bench at Hillsborough last week and are very much in contention after getting ninety minutes each in the reserve game against Preston on Wednesday.

However, it would be no surprise to see Steve Cotterill name an unchanged team although we could see Alan Mahon and Graham Branch switch with Branch back on the left. If that is the case we will line up:

Brian Jensen, Phil Bardsley, Michael Duff, Frank Sinclair, Jon Harley, Alan Mahon, James O'Connor, Chris McCann, Graham Branch, Michael Ricketts, Andy Gray. Subs from: John McGreal, Micah Hyde, Wade Elliott, John Spicer, Kyle Lafferty, Garreth O'Connor.

Last Time

Two goals from Ade Akinbiyi were enough to see off an inexperienced QPR almost twelve months ago in the next to last home game of the season. Ade followed up his first home goal on the previous Saturday against Brighton to ensure all the points went our way on a day when it became mathematically certain we could not be relegated.

Read more from that game and others against QPR in Frank's final goal which is in our look back section.

The teams were,

Burnley: Brian Jensen, Michael Duff, Gary Cahill, John McGreal, Mo Camara, Dean Bowditch (Lee Roche 89), Micah Hyde, Tony Grant (John Oster 90), James O'Connor, Graham Branch, Ade Akinbiyi (Jean-Louis Valois 90). Subs not used: Danny Coyne, Joel Pilkington.

QPR: Chris Day, Marcus Bignot, Pat Kanyuka, Dan Shittu, Gino Padula, Richard Edghill, Marc Bircham (Scott Mulholland 69), Shabazz Baidoo (Lewis Hamilton 30, Luke Townsend 45), Lee Cook, Jamie Cureton, Kevin Gallen. Subs not used: Jake Cole, Ryan Johnson.
