Now we are off over the Pennines

Remco van der Schaaf - doubtful for tonight's game
We can only hope that tonight's game at the Bradford & Bingley Pulse Flamingo Land Pension Fund Intersonic Coral Windows Valley Parade Stadium is better than a year ago when we endured a shocking ninety minutes that ended with the scores level at 1-1.

Ade Akinbiyi gave us the lead last year before the home side came back whilst Wayne Thomas nearly destroyed our back four. He smashed the ball at Michael Duff forcing him off and then clashed heads with Stephen Foster that saw him also substituted.

Back to tonight, and for Burnley fans hoping to see the new signings there could be a big disappointment with only Martin Paterson of the six new recruits looking certain to play. Diego Penny, Remco van der Schaaf and Kevin McDonald will all face late tests. The first two didn't play at Glentoran and McDonald hasn't featured since the 1-0 win at Partick Thistle.

Christian Kalvenes could also miss out, he didn't even travel to Belfast, whilst Chris Eagles won't be available after joining the Clarets yesterday. To add to that Wade Elliott, Chris McCann and Alex MacDonald face late tests ahead of the game and Adam Kay is rated doubtful.

For those not at Glentoran there is a chance to see trialist Aleksandrs Solovjovs. He will feature again as he looks to win himself a deal with the Clarets. The 20-year-old impressed on Monday and another similar performance could see him become a Burnley player.

Owen Coyle will select from: Brian Jensen, Graham Alexander, Michael Duff, Clarke Carlisle, Steven Caldwell, Joey Gudjonsson, Ade Akinbiyi, Martin Paterson, Steve Jones, Gabor Kiraly, Alan Mahon, Jay Rodriguez, Robbie Blake, Bes Berisha, Stephen Jordan plus possibly some of those mentioned above facing fitness tests.

One other piece of information - our old friend Graham Laws will be the man in the middle tonight. I suppose better in a friendly than an important game.
