Next Game – Millwall (away)

Beaten just two weeks ago in the FA Cup we will be looking to get our first win against Millwall in six attempts since our fantastic win there in the heat of August 2001 with goals fromt the two Moores.

As they prepare for a quarter final tie against Tranmere we are in search of league points and will be looking to take all three from them as they presumably try to kick us off the park again and go round stamping on us.

Millwall are on a good run at the moment and are unbeaten in nine league and cup games since a shock 2-1 home defeat against Gillingham on the last weekend of 2003. Seven of those games have been won including the two since our cup game there.

That run has seen them climb into the play off positions for the first time this season, they are now 6th and with the top two pulling away it does appear that the real battle is going to be for those next four places.

Manager Denis Wise, scandalously supported by Jamie Redknapp on Match of the Day, left himself out at Preston last Saturday when they won 2-1 but was back in the team on Tuesday when they beat Rotherham by the same scoreline at home.

It was very much a game of two halves that ended in dramatic fashion. Millwall were on top throughout the first half and Neil Harris latched on to a Danny Dichio knock down to give Millwall the lead seven minutes from the break.

The second half was a different story though and Rotherham, 6-0 winners at the Den last season, turned the tables and got on top. But they missed chances and looked to be heading for a 1-0 defeat when Darren Ward brought down Martin Butler in the last minute to give Rotherham a penalty. Michael Proctor equalised from the spot.

Incredibly in injury time Millwall found a winner when Tim Cahill headed in a Peter Sweeney cross to take themselves into sixth place.

Millwall started with the same eleven players who started in the cup tie against the Clarets and lined up:

Willy Gueret, Kevin Muscat, Matt Lawrence, Darren Ward, Robbie Ryan (Marvin Elliott 70), Paul Ifill (Peter Sweeney 70), Dennis Wise, Tim Cahill, David Livermore, Neil Harris, Danny Dichio. Subs not used: Andy Marshall, Kevin Braniff, Andy Roberts.

A win will take the Clarets past the 40 point mark as we look to pull as far away from those three bottom places as possible.
