Richard Eckersley - could have another extended run out tonight
They got their pre-season underway, as did Burnley, on Saturday with a 2-0 win at Barrow. Trialist Scott McLaughlin and Lewis Alessandra got the goals for Oldham.

McLaughlin will be no stranger to a couple of the Burnley players. He had a trial at Turf Moor in 2004 but it came to nothing and he was only with the club for a couple of days.

They will have a stronger side tonight with Pawel Abbott, Kieran Lee and Dale Stephens all set to play having missed out on Saturday. Dickov himself may play whilst new signing Ritchie Jones will get a debut.

It will be similar for the Clarets tonight with Brian Laws again set to ring the changes, although he did admit that some of the players might get seventy minutes. That was the case with Richard Eckersley on Saturday and he may well again have a longer spell with Tyrone Mears again likely to be missing with a tight hamstring.

Definitely out is Martin Paterson whose achilles tightened on Saturday. It is nothing serious but he won't be risked.

"It will be similar to Saturday," Laws said. "One or two of them might get nearer seventy minutes but we will mix it around and hopefully we will get another good work out."

Kick off tonight at Boundary Park, our first visit in almost eleven years, has been put back to 7:30 p.m.
