Großklein will be a reminder of Bradford

On Saturday 11th July five years ago we played for the first time as a Premier League club; it was our first pre-season friendly following that wonderful Wembley win that had seen us elevated to the top flight of English football for the first time in 33 years.

The reception our team got that day was incredible. Over 2,000 of us were there to see us play in an away kit that was a replica of that worn fifty years earlier at Maine Road to commemorate our becoming Champions of England.

On a personal note I'm disappointed that I won't be there tomorrow when we play our first game following our return to the Premier League. Personal reasons have prevented me from making the trip but I've spoken to supporters today who are already there and enjoying the searing heat that Austria is currently  offering.

Großklein currently has banners all over town welcoming us. "The Premier League is coming to Großklein," they are proudly proclaiming but it appears we are not playing the local club, but a Southern Styria Select XI.

It is the first pre-season game and, as such, will be more about fitness than anything else, and it is likely that manager Sean Dyche will utilise as many of his squad as possible.

I'm sure it will be a great occasion for our hosts and I know, having made three visits to Austria a few years ago, the Burnley fans who have gone will have an enjoyable time.

It's the first of five or six pre-season games for the first team with fixtures against Accrington, Preston, Blackpool (all away) and Celta Vigo at home confirmed with potentially a further fixture against a prominent European club at Turf Moor.

For tomorrow's game, Burnley will select from: Tom Heaton, Matt Gilks, Alex Cisak, Kieran Trippier, Steven Reid, Luke O'Neill, Cameron Dummigan, Michael Duff, Kevin Long, Jason Shackell, Tom Anderson, Ben Mee, Danny Lafferty, Scott Arfield, Ross Wallace, Dean Marney, David Jones, Steven Hewitt, Matty Taylor, Danny Ings, Ashley Barnes, Marvin Sordell, Lukas Jutikewicz and Jason Gilchrist.
