Derby are here with the cameras

Derby are the visitors, a club who just a few short months ago were battling alongside the Clarets against relegation. Yet it doesn’t seem all that long ago we were beating the then Premiership Derby County in the FA Cup as a 2nd Division club.

George Burley took over the Rams during last season as they just about avoided the drop and he looked over to Europe to help strengthen his squad over the summer. In came Morton Bisgaard from FC Copenhagen along with Spaniard Inigo Idiakez from Rayo Vallecano.

They were joined by Mo Konjic who came in from Coventry and former Watford striker Tommy Smith who had been with Sunderland last season and was in their team in the last match of last season on the Turf.

Since the season started Polish striker Grzegorz Rasiak has been added to the squad, signing from Italian club Siena, he made his debut towards the end of September after a delay with the paper work, you see it doesn’t just affect us.

Former Claret Andy Oakes is out on loan at Bolton whilst players such as Izale McLeod, Noel Whelan, Youl Mawene and Dave Walton have all moved on.

Derby have slipped in the last few weeks and haven’t won in any of their last six league games and they are currently in 16th place with two points less than the Clarets.

They were beaten at Wolves on Tuesday, this after going down to ten men early in the game when goalkeeper Lee Camp was sent off. Kevin Cooper scored twice against them to send them back to Derby empty handed.

George Burley has something of a selection problem tonight with a number of players ruled out which starts with goalkeeper Camp. He will be replaced by Lee Grant but with Andy Oakes at Bolton they will have no sub keeper on the bench.

He’ll also have to consider his line up without Jeff Kenna, Michael Johnson and Tommy Smith who are all ruled out. Inigo Idiakez faces a late test on a hamstring injury but Morten Bisgaard could be fit to return.

As for the Clarets it will all depend on whether Ian Moore plays but suggestions are that he will and it could be that it is same again when Steve Cotterill names his starting line up with everyone else reporting fit.

That could mean a place on the bench again for Tony Grant who can consider himself somewhat unfortunate to be have been left out on Tuesday.

If that’s the case the Burnley team will be:

Danny Coyne, Michael Duff, Frank Sinclair, John McGreal, Mo Camara, Jean-Louis Valois, Richard Chaplow, Micah Hyde, Graham Branch, Ian Moore, Robbie Blake. Subs: Brian Jensen, Lee Roche, Richard Duffy, Amadou Sanokho, Tony Grant.

Derby
’s last visit to the Turf came two weeks before the end of last season and the 1-0 win, courtesy of a Graham Branch goal, virtually secured our place in the division for another season. They were, as it happened the last points we picked up, going on to lose the last two games.

The teams that day were,

Burnley: Brian Jensen, Lee Roche, David May, Mark McGregor, Mo Camara, Glen Little (Neil Wood 70), Richard Chaplow, Paul Weller, Lenny Johnrose, Robbie Blake (Luke Chadwick 77), Robbie Blake. Subs not used: Nathan Abbey, Ian Moore, Dele Adebola.

Derby:
Lee Grant, Michael Johnson, Richard Jackson, Ian Taylor, Youl Mawene, Tom Huddlestone, Adam Bolder (Marco Reich 70), Leon Osman, Paul Peschisolido (Junior 80), Marcus Tudgay, Manuel Fernandez. Subs not used: Andy Oakes, Pablo Mills, Nathan Doyle.
