Crisp Bowl for first away game

We are in need of a change of fortune away from home – it is now 178 days since Michael Ricketts scored our last away goal, 189 days since our last away point and an incredible 276 days since we last won an away game. It is time we sorted all this out.

It's Leicester and Rob Kelly, having replaced the wonderfully inept Craig Levein on a temporary basis, is now the permanent manager after the board upset half the clubs in England making approaches for their managers. The list was almost endless and the aftermath is only just coming to a close with the situation finally resolved at QPR. They were probably only offering 5p in the pound in compensation.

Kelly has been able to bring in four new players during the summer, a couple of them very experienced players. The first of these two is former Forest midfielder Andy Johnson who has arrived from West Brom on a free transfer, the other is a player who always seemed to cause an injury when he played against us for Norwich, full back Darren Kenton who has spent the last three seasons with Southampton but ended last season on loan with Leicester.

The other two signings are players moving up the divisions, players who were in League Two last season. Irish defender Gareth McAuley was with Lincoln, coming close to joining Crewe in January, and Josh Low who was in Northampton's promotion winning team.

The most notable departures, making way for the new signings, were Joey Gudjonsson and Lee Morris, but as yet Mark de Vries remains at Leicester having failed to win a deal back in his native Holland.

For the second year in succession they kicked off the new season, their game being brought forward to lunchtime for Sky television, and it ended in a 2-0 defeat at Luton, and a performance that brought out the critics in the stands.

It's early days yet though and it is difficult to assess the teams until a few games at least are played. They will have a big crowd behind them and that will make it tough for us. But it is time to start ending those long waits.

Team News

Kelly will have one extra name in his squad tonight, that of central defender Patrick Kisnorbo who was ruled out on Saturday through suspension. It does look as though two other players, out injured on Saturday, will still be missing, they are goalkeeper Rab Douglas and James Wesolowski.

The manager has said they need to get Saturday's performance out of their system and is expected to select from the same squad plus Kisnorbo. Leicester should select from the following:

Paul Henderson, Richard Stearman, Nils-Eric Johansson, Darren Kenton, Patrick McCarthy, Alan Maybury, Gareth Williams, Andy Johnson, Danny Tiatto, Iain Hume, Matty Fryatt, Conrad Logan, Gareth McAuley, Patrick Kisnorbo, Chris O'Grady, Stephen Hughes, Elvis Hammond.

Steve Cotterill has no new injury worries and only former Leicester goalkeeper Danny Coyne and Danny Karbassiyoon are ruled out. Much will depend on whether he decides to change things. He could start with the team that ended the game on Saturday or it might well be that he starts with the same starting line up. That's what I expect him to do and if so we will line up:

Brian Jensen, Frank Sinclair, Wayne Thomas, Michael Duff, Jon Harley, James O'Connor, Chris McCann, Alan Mahon, Steve Jones, Andy Gray, Kyle Lafferty. Subs from: Stephen Foster, John McGreal, Micah Hyde, Garreth O'Connor, Wade Elliott, John Spicer, Graham Branch.

Last Meeting

Our trip to Leicester last season ended in a 1-0 win for the Clarets, our second successive away win following the victory at Wolves.

It was a particularly sweet win for Ade Akinbiyi who was ridiculously booed by the Leicester fans throughout but got the last laugh by scoring the only goal of the game.

The teams were;

Leicester: Rab Douglas, Richard Stearman, Dion Dublin, Patrick McCarthy, Nils-Eric Johansson (Danny Tiatto 69), Momo Sylla, Stephen Hughes, Patrick Kisnorbo, Joe Hamill (Joey Gudjonsson 78), Elvis Hammond (Iain Hume 60), Mark de Vries. Subs not used: Paul Henderson, Patrik Gerrbrand.

Burnley: Brian Jensen, Michael Duff, Frank Sinclair, John McGreal, Jon Harley, Wade Elliott (Keith Lowe 80), James O'Connor, Micah Hyde, John Spicer (Duane Courtney 89), Garreth O'Connor (Gifton Noel-Williams 90), Ade Akinbiyi. Subs not used: Chris McCann, Karl Bermingham.
