"We've been talking about the win at Hull last season this week and I think that's a good omen," he said. "But both teams have changed since then so we can't take much relevance from that although we'd love to go back there and get another good result.
"Hull have put a consistent run in with back to back wins and they've done very well. I think Nigel Pearson has done a really good job there and has turned them around, so we're expecting a difficult game.
"But we'll take confidence in the way we're playing at the moment and we just want to keep it going. This is just another big game in this league. They keep getting bigger and bigger and we need to be ready for it."
Howe added: "There are two teams that are in form who have got eyes on the places above them. The prize for the winner is a big one and we want it to be us."
