We will go there in good confidence

Both managers have come to their respective clubs from Scotland but Baggies boss Tony Mowbray has now been in the hot seat at the Hawthorns for fifteen months and has them sat at the top of the league.

He's certainly noted our recent progress, particularly the away form this season. "Burnley are doing something well away from home," he said. "They had that spell where they won at Watford and Wolves convincingly.

"We have to be very, very wary. They will be a threat. They struggled to win at home for a while but seem to have addressed that now. Having won the last three games, they are on a bit of a charge. We're going to have to be at our very best to continue in the vein of form we are in at home."

Mowbray added: "Owen's St. Johstone team were an attractive side. They achieved some good things, including reaching cup semi-finals. For a First Division side they were a decent outfit. Owen preaches attacking football and likes his players to pass it and play an aggressive, attacking style.

"He's a very enthusiastic guy who loves the game. I hope he does well, but obviously not too well this weekend. We want to get back to winning ways."

Mowbray spoke of Burnley's system. "In the last few weeks Burnley have played a single striker up front in Ade Akinbiyi," he said. "Whether Andrew Cole has an impact on the way they play, we'll have to wait and see.

"Whilst we take note of their strengths and weaknesses, we concentrate on our own team. If we can get our own game going, whatever they do, we'll hopefully give them problems."

Burnley boss Owen Coyle is looking forward to having Andrew Cole in his squad for the first time. "Andrew Cole is a top class player who still has a lot to offer and that really struck me when we had a meeting," Coyle said.

"He is hungry and wants to show people he can still play and score goals. He will be a tremendous addition to our squad and I think he will have a very positive influence on the whole football club.

"We are excited about him being here and will give him a platform to prove that he can still go and play. I'm looking forward to working with him. He'll certainly be in the 16 against West Brom and we'll take it from there."

On West Brom he said: "We don't worry about other teams. Our concern is for Burnley and what we can do. If we play to our level, we are capable of going to the Hawthorns and winning.

"We'll treat them with respect because they are top of the league and they are the best team in the Championship. We are playing well and achieving the points that our performances have deserved so we will go there in good confidence.

"You want to play against the best teams and the best players. West Brom are a tremendous passing team and we like to get the ball down and play so it should be a great football match.

"They have bounced back from the Blackpool defeat with a credible performance against Arsenal and three great wins in the league. We have to keep the momentum going. The lads have gone out and played to the top of their game and we have to make sure we keep doing that."
