We will be ready and give it everything we've got

This will be the first time Glenn Roeder has come up against the Clarets since he and Chris Waddle did their runner in the summer of 1998 and he's almost been labelled another John Bond by many Burnley fans since. It is though interesting to note that he's worked almost continuously since and yet his partner in crime Waddle is still, almost ten years on, looking for his next job.

Roeder has said he wants his Norwich side to make a bright start against us and to seize the initiative. "I suppose every manager around the country says that," he said. "I certainly do. The importance is starting well to get the momentum in the game going our way and that's what we will try to do on Saturday.

"We need to get to grips with the centre of midfield as soon as we can and play from there and restrict them to as few chances as possible. We can do that by making sure that we press well as high up the pitch as we can and get the ball back off them because they are a good passing team.

On the Clarets our former assistant manager added: "We know we are playing against a good team but we also know that when we play as well as we did against Bristol City and Stoke at home that we can match anyone in this division. They have a lot of experience, they have top players and top lads as well. I worked with Andy Cole in 97/98 when I was helping Hoddle with England. He is a quiet lad and a good lad.

"Obviously he is pretty lethal in front of goal so we need to make sure if he is involved on Saturday that we restrict the service to him and if the ball does get to him that we mark him tightly and stop him getting any shots or headers away. Unsworth has also had a fantastic career and has been a great servant wherever he has gone."

Meanwhile Owen Coyle has sounded the battle cry as the Clarets continue in their search for a top six finish. "We got to Norwich with an opportunity to stay in the mix and that's what we're looking to do," Coyle said. "I really believe that if we win this game we'll be right in the frame.

"When you look through the Championship there are a host of big, big clubs and we're in there amongst it. As much as going away from home and people thinking a point might be good, we'll be going to try to win the match.

"We can't afford to be off for one more game, so the one thing we will do is go there and be positive because it is win we are after and wins we need. It will be a difficult task because Norwich were very unfortunate last weekend, but we know it will be a cracker in terms of two footballing sides going for it and we will look to come out on top.

"I think someone is going to be on that run of win, win, win and we have to make sure that's us and particularly at this stage of the season I feel whether you are at home or away doesn't really have any bearing.

"I think what it comes down to now is mental strength and a test of character. We know we have the ability and sometimes you need a little bit of luck and that's something we certainly haven't had much of this sseason.

"We know we can go to Norwich, or similar big, big clubs and win games, so we will be ready and give it everything we've got.
