We were bang on top of the game

It wasn’t the best of games with few clear cut chances but for Norwich boss Nigel Worthington that hardly mattered with his side just needing the points to try and make the play offs for a second successive season.

Worthington said after the game, "It was a good performance by us and a good result. We scored two very good goals and we showed hard work and commitment.

"I like to look at the positives although we did make hard work of it at times. Some of the decision making and the balls we gave away was bad but the team keeps winning and you cannot really have any complaints.

"We stuck at it and that’s what we need to do and to keep getting more results."

Stan meanwhile put the defeat down to defensive errors for the two goals.

"I thought we made two bad mistakes for the goals. We allowed them a free header for the first which was terrible defending and then a mistake by our goalkeeper gave them their second.

"We were in the ascendancy when the second Norwich goal was scored and we had a few good chances. There was also a blatant penalty in the first half that wasn’t given.

"We played OK and at 1-0 we were bang on top of the game. I thought 2-0 flattered Norwich but we will continue to give 100%."

Stan also spoke about the young players who are finally breaking into the first team.

"I always wanted to put Richard Chaplow on for the second half and I thought he did very well. In fact both the young lads did well and as at the moment we have a lot of injuries and players out on loan, because of the financial situation, it is a good time to give one or two young lads a chance - but only if they are good enough!

"We have to be careful with them, we will just have to bring them on gently. We will be using them but at the same time we would like to win all our matches."
