We want to put on a performance for the fans

Rodgers has seen his side lose their last three away games and wants his side to be more cautions than they have been recently on their travels. "We've really got to go and show the steel we've had for a big part of the season," he said.

"Early in the season there was an aggression missing away from home. We were just too open. It was something we had rectified at Bristol, Middlesbrough and Coventry, but it had slipped back into our away performances.

"We know you've got to go into these away games and make sure your spaces are closed, your lines are closed and you are not giving anything away.

"You play your football and earn that respect to play. When we've been at our best away from home that's what we've done, we've earned the right to play. We got our victories from there.

"We need to take our strength and aggression into the game and try and pick up three points. We need to make sure we are defensively strong and have that steel in our game. What gives us great hope is the results we've had away from home, we've had some excellent performances, so I know we can do it and that's the most important thing.

"We have to try and take full points against Burnley. It's just important that we stay in there right until the very end. We go into every game trying to win it and that is our only focus. We are only two points off second position, but we know it's going to be a difficult game. It's important we finish the season strong and the players are ready for it.

"Burnley are a good side with good players. They are going through a difficult run, but we need to focus on going there and getting a result, and I've got every believe we can."

Eddie Howe has seen Burnley's play off hopes come off the rails with only one point, that against Coventry, in the last six games and he knows it is very much last chance saloon this afternoon and in all the remaining six games.

"It can still be done," he claimed. "These two home games [Swansea and Middlesbrough] are going to be absolutely crucial and we are looking to win the remaining six games. The players are capable of it and that's the target.

"You have to aim high like that and if we can do it we will have a very good chance. But although it sounds silly, we are not really looking at the end of it. We are looking at trying to win a game before we can put a run together.

"It's a tough one against Swansea, but we want to put on a performance for the fans. We want them to see how hard the team is working and that we are together, and I am sure if they see that unity and that togetherness and that work rate then they will get behind us."

He continued: "We've been disappointed at the recent results, but a home game is a chance to get back and let the crowd see the best of us.

"It will be a tough challenge because Swansea will look to play from back to front. They don't change their style wherever they play and we will respect them. But we believe in our players and in what we are trying to do and it should be an exciting game for the supporters.

"There are several teams at the moment going on runs in different directions. We have just had a tough little spell but hopefully we will come out of it and when we do I think you will see a better team for it."
