We want to get back on the horse

Charlton boss Chris Powell won promotion last season, his first full season in charge of the Addicks. He's already got a win against Burnley, albeit a very fortunate one assisted by a ridiculous early red card for Kieran Trippier.

Their form over the last six games has been slightly better than ours in terms of points and Powell said today of the recent run: "We are not going to hide from the fact, we are going to face up to it and show some character.

"The boys have trained well and we have put last week behind us. All we can do is go out there and, for 90 plus minutes, do our best to rectify it. We have had recent history (at The Valley) by beating Blackpool and we should have beaten Birmingham without a doubt.

"We definitely were the better team on the day and got hurt right at the end. We know we can perform there, for sure, and create chances.

"Against Birmingham we found Jack Butland in supreme form and I think we have just got to take as many positives as we can to take into, not only Saturday, but the remaining 11 games and the remaining home games as well."

Powell added: "I was caught on record last week saying I wish all 12 were away but I think everyone knows that was tongue in cheek. Home is where the heart is. The Valley is our place, it's our pitch, it's our stadium, it's where our supporters come and support their team as they've done magnificently this year.

"It's just the way it has gone for us this year. It has just been one of them seasons. We will get on with it and prepare and we have got to make sure that we do our best to turn it around."

It's the same for Sean Dyche who, looking at Charlton said: "They are having an awkward spell themselves, especially at home, but they won't feel they have been far away. There are a number of clubs having these little spells and it's important to address them, come through them and get on with it.

"We sit in that position where people look to see which way you are going to push it. We are looking to push it the right way, for obvious reasons, and we want to get back on the horse as quickly as possible.

"We've done well overall but we're on an awkward run and it has to be addressed."
