We want to be right up there in the mix

Davies saw his side held 2-2 by leaders Leicester at the City Ground on Wednesday night and he's admitted that much of his time and concern right now has been treating the rehabilitation of their injured players.

Davies, in his second spell as Forest manager having previously led Preston and Derby, said: "The main thing for me is to get the quality we're currently missing back into the squad. Once we do that we can sort out the little things we've been losing in the last couple of games.

"We're getting one or two back on the grass. Eric Lichaj, Kelvin Wilson and Guy Moussi are all out there and getting closer, although not quite as close as we'd like. Kevin Gomis has also recovered from an ankle problem so he's now doing some training. We'll keep working on the medium to long-term injuries."

He also expressed concern that they go into the game having played in midweek whilst we haven't. "It's the same again," he said. "Burnley have had no midweek game and therefore a longer rest, but we will continue to go into every game prepared and determined to pick up as many points as we can."

Back home with four points from two away games at Bolton and Bournemouth, Dyche has again pointed to the part the supporters can play as we look to get another three home points.

He said: "We are trying to enhance what we are doing and achieving as a group at the club. We want to take that further and the fans can play a big part in that.

"I've been told we have the sixth highest away following in the league, which is incredible for a club our size. That is an achievement from our fans and I am sure we will see even more of them at Turf Moor, particularly with some really big games coming up.

"We've made it a tough place for other teams to come. We want that to continue and never more so when the fans are there in numbers and behind us, as they have been all season."

He's spoken regularly recently about how he feels everyone is now pulling in the same direction, and he added: "I've mentioned it since my first day here and I think there is a connection. The fans have come to understand and believe in the players, which is fantastic and we want to keep building it.

"When you align your fans with the players and what they are giving for the club, you can't guarantee the outcome every time. What you can do, though, is show an attempt to win and I think most fans will take that as a marker..

"When you've got the Burnley shirt on, you demonstrate real energy and desire to win the football match. Then, hopefully, the quality of performance and goals will enable you to win that football match."

Looking forward to the Forest game, he continued: "You want to beat everyone in the division, but when you play against the teams around you and you deliver good performances, it sends out a different message. It shows that you are capable and we have certainly shown that this season.

"Forest have spent a hell of a lot of money since pre-season and they have brought in some real quality. They are a very big club, considerably backed by their owner. Their manager has been there, seen and done it and he knows there are big expectations at Forest this year.

"I think it is fair to say they have the deepest squad of players in the division. We saw it earlier on in the season when they changed the whole team for the League Cup tie and if you looked at it they still seemed like a pretty handy Championship side.

"Then, the other night against Leicester, they had seven players in the starting eleven who have played in the Premier League. Therefore, we remain aware of the opposition. However, our aim is to be ready to approach the game with the right attitude and deliver a performance that can win.

"We want to keep working hard, beating these teams and progressing on our performance levels because we want to be right up there in the mix as we are now."
