We roared back in quality fashion

Gary Megson believed his side were fully deserving of their point whilst Burnley boss Owen Coyle thought the Clarets were worthy of more than the one point we won.

Megson said after the game: "I thought it was a classic game of two halves and a point is a fair result for both teams over the ninety minutes. We knew Burnley would come at us as it showed when they forced three corners inside five minutes, but the game settled down after then.

"The fact that we were 1-0 up and were on top in the first half means that we are disappointed not to come away with the points. If Ivan Klasnic had managed to take his chance just before half time then I'm not sure that they would have been able to have come back from that.

"We spoke at half time about how Burnley would up the tempo again at the start of the second half. At times we rode our luck and at times we defended well, but fundamentally we didn't do enough like we did in the first half to counter them.

"But saying that you have to take into account Burnley's home form. They have beaten Manchester United, Sunderland and Everton at Turf Moor and have drawn with Arsenal, so today's point means that we have taken five from nine and have stayed undefeated for three games.

"If we can follow this up with a victory against Hull then this draw will be seen as a good point."

Burnley took their points total to twenty with this point and speaking after this latest draw Owen Coyle said: "That's twenty points more than many people globally would think we would have at this stage. But we have earned them and I believe we are worth more than twenty points.

"What we have to do now is go and gather another twenty to go with that twenty, to make sure we retain our Premier League status."

He continued: "I don't think there's any doubt we did enough to win that game today and I felt a little aggrieved to be one down at half time. Bolton are always a threat and they know how to ground out results, but today I think they will know they have been in a real game and if they are honest in their assessment they will know they were fortunate to be leaving with a point.

"We obviously had a gilt edged chance to go ahead, never took it and paid a heavy price. Their free kick was exquisite, but I'm not sure it was a foul in the first place.

"In the second half though, the quality of our play and chances we created was top class. It would have been easy to feel sorry, but we roared back in quality fashion and it was cultured and very pleasing on the eye.

"We haven't scored from enough of our chances and Jussi Jaaskelainen, who has been a top goalkeeper, showed it again today. But we kept driving on for the winner and there's no doubt that performances like that will result in three points more often than one."
