We need to win four more games

It is a view not shared by a good number of Forest fans who were puzzling with us after the game just how on that form we are down near the bottom.

Kinnear though was adamant that his Forest were the better side and said after the game, "It would have been an injustice had we got nothing out of the game.

"We gave them a goal start but I thought by the end of it we could have easily argued a case for deserving three points.

"But we’ve got to look on the positive side. We have lost just once in eight games since I came here and had we done that over the course of the season we wouldn’t be where we are now."

He spoke about his former Burnley striker who is benefiting from the new Kinnear style approach, "I was pleased for Gareth Taylor that he got himself another goal. He was always a handful again and stuck at it all night as we tried to get level.

"On another occasion we could have got more goals coming from his headers and knock downs."

And finally in true Craig Brown style he whinged, "I also couldn’t see anything wrong with David Johnson’s effort that was disallowed near the end (the assistant’s flag had been up for some time). It looked a good goal to me and then he goes and hits the underside of the bar with a header after that."

Stan has made it clear often enough that he did not want to sell Gareth Taylor and he was certainly at loggerheads with the Chairman over the sale as we recall from his comments at Gillingham back in August last year.

"It had to be Gareth, typical," said Stan after our former striker had scored the equaliser. "He’s a very good player, a great outlet, and I’ve never been able to replace him.

"I saw him after the game and he just said ‘Sorry Gaffer’, so that was nice of him but he’s a good lad."

To our performance though and he added, "It was a good point and another point towards safety. At this stage of the season both sides needed to win and our players are a little disappointed that they didn’t win.

"We had more clear cut chances in the game but we didn’t have the break. Glen had a great chance at the end and he did everything right but Dawson somehow got a knee on it and it went for a corner. That’s the way it is though.

"It was a good team performance and there were some good individual performances too. The players worked hard and I thought we deserved a point out of it.

"It is a tough place to come and they have some very good players. Joe has turned it around well and they have been playing well.

"We now have a massive game against Wimbledon (he meant Franchise) at the weekend and we need to win four more games in my opinion."

Finally on the injury front (we cannot afford any more injuries) Stan added, "Tony Grant has tweaked his knee and that’s worrying, we will have it scanned. Neil Wood still has a little problem with his knee too."

There was no news of any injuries to Luke Chadwick or Alan Moore, neither of whom were in the squad.
