We need to put back to back wins together

Shakespeare, standing in for manager Nigel Pearson, said: "At the start of the game Burnley's shape was difficult to break down. They obviously then scored a good counter attacking goal from their point of view and that put us on the back foot, because the first goal is important in any Championship game.

"We tinkered with it a little bit at half time, brought Anthony (Knockaert) in off one of the wide positions and played him behind the striker, which we felt was pivotal in getting us back in the game.

"I'm delighted for the boys in terms of the spirit and the courage they showed because the fans made their feelings known at half time. I think that was more out of frustration with the result rather than the performance."

Speaking about their equaliser, and the fact that it was David Nugent's 100th career goal, he added: "Front players live off their goals. David has been on 99 goals for a while so we're pleased for him because his endeavour and work rate are outstanding. To get off that will hopefully give him the confidence to push on."

Eddie Howe, who saw us lose a lead again, as at Middlesbrough, said: "It is a really tough one to take. In the first half we scored a really good goal and Leicester had a lot of pressure, but not many chances.

"We frustrated them and we were really happy at half time, but we are kicking ourselves because we conceded a really poor goal just after half time. I looked at it again just after the game and it was very poor from our perspective. From the long throw we've let the ball bounce and a scuffed finish has gone in the corner."

He continued: "We had a good 20 minutes at the end and when Sam came on he did well. The plan was always to play Martin Paterson for 60 minutes because we need to keep him fit. We can't veer from that, no matter how a game is going, so Sam came on, made a difference and was unlucky with his two chances.

"It wasn't to be and clearly we are struggling for consistency in results at the moment. We need to put back to back wins together, as most clubs do. It's an incredibly difficult league to do that, but we are bitterly disappointed because we have shown here that we can compete and can get results on the road."

Howe explained the absence of both Michael Duff and Charlie Austin, both of whom had been pencilled in to start this game. "Both Michael and Charlie are injured, but they are hopefully nothing too serious.

"Michaels just felt something on Saturday and his Achilles was too painful to play. He has had a scan, so hopefully there is nothing too serious there.

"Charlie just took a knock in training on Tuesday right at the end of the session, but again we don't think it's anything too serious."
